The kids from Rivervale primary school are a great bunch of kids to teach. They were really fun to work with and everyone had fun. To them I'm known as Mr J....sounds really cool eh? So everytime they greet me its Mr J. Hmmmm maybe I can have a career in MiB?

One of the kids even wanted to take a strand of my hair....why you may ask? Cos my hair is dyed! Maybe because they thought it was gold and today's subject was on money and being thrifty.....

I have a few subjects that I wanna talk about and one of them is about angels inspired from one of Corraine May's song....Stay tuned for it!

Yesterday night on MSN, Crystal showed me something that made me smile...what could make blue cow smile u ask? Well...its none other than a dancing Patrick the Starfish!
So this Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh goes out to Crystal.

The recording is over and done with and I had my fair share of laughing and crying along with a pinch of heart attacks.....why you may ask? Recordings are like a box of chocolates....you'll never know what you're gonna get....

This school that i'm currently with are expecting quite a bit from their students but the good thing is that the teachers will follow up with their students after we leave so that they can prep them up for their performance day.

What is my class doing? The Macarena! Hahahahah I just hope the teacher in charge can dance and shake his/her bums. Till now I have yet to meet the class's teacher so next month I'll be meeting them....hehehehe I get to torture teachers...ahhh the perks of this job.

However there is a bad side to it and that schools want to quantify the children's skills in acting, vocals etc which is one of the dumbest things ever conceived. Moreover these marks go into their school records!!?!?!?
What's next? A grade on how clean their fingernails are????

Actually I don't wanna take on this project because it has a high turnover of trainers. Seems like some people want the nice obedient children and if they get an unmanagble class, they just dump and run away and guess who "cleans out the trash"?
No prizes for guessing who.....They are Christians some more...Aiyo......I have to go in and try to pick up the pieces and what takes the topping? The previous trainer never prepared the class for an item...../smack forehead......That's why I chose a dance as I don't have time to prep teh kids with any script and besides they love dancing!

Yup its the Corpse Bride but its not as morbid as the title makes it out to be. I really enjoyed Tim Burton's first movie using the same style of animation which was
" The Nightmare before Christmas "

I did like movies using stop motion techniques. If anyone can remember Morph or Wallace and Gromit.....it's done in the same way. I don't know but there's something magical about these types of films which I really like.

What is up this week? Well a maraton recording session on Tuesday from 1 to 6 pm and the usual classess on Wed and Thurs. Today is my off day so YAY!!!!!!! Gonna relax and "rot" infront of the computer or PS2.......

Just came back from

Just came back from the KDM followup session and I would say it was a great success. People did turn up and we had a fun time of songs, games and a puppet drama. I believd everyone loved the shark game. Even though I was behind the puppet stage, I could hear Auntie Mabel screaming loudly!

This was our puppet stage …pretty cool eh?


And this was a 3 year old girl trying on the sheep’s headgear while waiting for her photoshoot. Cute right? :p


Everything went well except that….mommy bit my hand! Ow!
I guess she didn’t get to eat much of the dinner so that was why she was so hungry.
Oh it was the puppet who played the mommy that bit my hand..not Joyce if anyone is misunderstanding my post!
But hey it was great working with Joyce again and she did good tonite.
So proud of her…*sob* *sob*
What was more impressive was the little ad-lib session we had while testing our headset mics….man were we having fun…..
It sort of went like this:

Me : Where are we going mommy?
Joyce : We’re going to the bottom of the sea.
Me : Where are we going there ?
Joyce : To get eaten by sharks!
Me : I don’t wanna go there Mommy….
Me: Can we eat shark’s fin mommy?
Me: Will we meet the little mermaid?
Joyce : There is no little mermaid.
Joyce : What about finding Nemo?
Me : Mommy they already found Nemo….

By the way, anyone noticed that my mic wasn’t working during the drama?

I was thinking as I wrote the script for tommorrow....
If you put 1000 monkeys on typewriters...one of them is bound to type out one of William Shakespear's works....

Yuppers...the 2 day concert is finally over and all I can say is THANK YOU JESUS! Man its hard work trying to be the MC, Stage manager and stage hand all at the same time. I thought I was there to MC but more roles were thrust into my lap. I was like running up and down trying to keep the crowd entertained and getting the groups up on stage. It didn't help when some trainers over the classes weren't present.
I had to jump out on stage once to do some impromto entertaining while my boss had to sort out some kids' positioning on the stage cos they didn't know where to stand.
Like one trainer said " The Lord was with me " and I guess she was right as when I jumped out, I had no clue what I'm gonna do but I just did whatever came to mind.

However it was rather sad that some of the teachers didn't see the value of this concert. Some of the comments irk me to the core like " What is the point of this" or "what a waste of time"...I mean common! They are teachers! Don't they see the effort these little ones have put up? They may look simple to adults but not to a 6 year old kid!

Teaching speech and drama in public schools allowed me to have a glimpse of teaching life and trust me it ain't as pretty as the TV ads made it to be. I do have some teacher friends and they are really passionate about it but sadly there are some who are in it just for the money. They have no real patience for kids at all.

Well this is my rant! Tommorrow is the followup to the King david musical and the puppets will be back to tell another story. I will be back with my "Mommy" aka Joyce Ling. I will have to bang out the script later on so looks like a long night for me.

After having my eyes "tortured" by the movie A Sound of Thunder....
I got this....


FOr those who own a Playstation 1/2, Final Fantasy would be familiar to you. This is the second movie with the first movie being "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within".
Both are CG ( computer generated ) movies and they are both great. However the 2nd movie follows one of the playstation games Final Fantasy 7. It starts off after the ending of the game and carries the story forward.

This movie ain't in Singapore yet. For that matter I'm unsure if its gonna make it to our shores. The version I have is entirely in Jap but there are subtitles to make my life easier.

On another note, tommorrow makes the start of performance day for one of the schools that I'm teaching Speech and Drama to and its to showcase what the students have learnt for the past few sessions. I have been given the task to MC the entire concert fpr the next 2 days of Thursday and Friday....

Its gonna be a crazy day man....first the concert then I have to dash off to another school in Sengkang for a puppetry course for Pri 1 then fly to church for zone meeting at 7.30pm. I'll prolly be knocked out when I reach home! Did I mention I have to be in school at 8.30am? Aghhhhhh!

Well today I went down to watch this movie at Bugis Junction.


It felt like a B grade movie....the special effects were so-so but it was uninspired. I'm a sci-fi buff so the idea of going back in time kinda interests me. This show is kinda like Evolution but not funny.....Its about this company called Time Safari who transports people back in time to hunt dinosaurs. One major rule of time travel is never disturb anything while in the past as it will have an impact in teh future and yup....you guessed it! Someone broke that rule and for the rest of the show I saw the consequeces of that action.

I won't spoil the show with the ending but I would warn you that if you have money better spent elsewhere, then spend it elsewhere. If you have spare cash to burn then just hand it over to me. I will save you the trouble!

On another note, there is one less cow in Singapore...little mad cow has gone over to California for some internship or was it to look for green pastures? I don't know....Anyways, the little mad one has been working with me in teh children's ministry for 5 years now and now there are only 4 of us ( inclusive of Pastor Debbie ) to hold teh fort. Well I guess she'll be productive of her time like spreading the mad cow disease in the West.
Well its only 23 more sundays till we meet again so MooOOoOoOOoOOoOOo!

YAY IT IS FINISHED

YAY! IT IS FINISHED!

Yup….the King David musical was a rousing success with 3 runs on both Sat and Sun. We had people being saved and people returning back to the Lord. But looking back now, I have that empty feeling…..All those rehearsals and the time, effort put into it has paid off….I was so looking forward to the actual day and now I wish it wouldn’t end……
Well…what can I say except that God came through for us….it is truly God’s grace that allowed this musical to be put together in such a short amount of time. I guess its time to allow my right arm to rest! Hehehehe!

I didn’t get to watch the actual performance given that I was hiding behind my puppet screen during the entire show so I’m hoping someone would bless me with a copy of the DVD *hint* *hint*

Let not this be the end but the start of many more to come!

Well next week is gonna be another busy week as I have a performance to oversee for 2 days and the teacher in charge excepts a charged up performance from her kids and I have another recording session at another school *shudder*

Its not that I don’t like recording session but sometimes you get fantastic kids who could do the script in 2 to 3 takes while others just kinda tests your patience…My class? Well we’re gonna do the Macarena dance! Given that they are just 6 year olds and I discovered that they really love dancing and some of the boys can do some breakdance moves so hence this choice of presentation….so that means no recording as its entirely all on movements! Ahhhh one less headache :p

I’ll try to post up all the pics I took during the musical for your viewing pleasure…

The first 2 runs of

The first 2 runs of King David the Musical are over and all I can say is a job well done!
It was great and fantastic but what matters more are the souls…we have people who accepted Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and that is what this musical is all about! It’s about reaching out to the community….yar the music was great, the acting was great but if JC ( Jesus Christ ) ain’t involved it’ll be just another programme.

I’m really impressed by the JYs of GMC…they were a fantastic bunch of people!!!!

“Mommy” if you’re reading this….you did a great job! I’m really happy and grateful to be able to work with you! Perhaps in the future we can work together again….You have shown a willing heart and that is what matters….
As Dauglaus used to say “ You do your best and let the Lord do the rest! “

I would like to give a great big Hi-5 to the background people from the ushers to the intercessors for without them, I believe that this musical wouldn’t have gone on as well as today did.

It’s been a long day and there’s still one more show tomorrow so I better hit the sack early as I’m reporting early. The pics of the event will be up ASAP…hopefully tomorrow.

Well today marks the end of the King David rehearsals and tommorrow is DA DAY! Well 2 days since it runs on Sat and Sun! There were some little hiccups here and there and the puppets had to do a little ad-lib as well :)

Joyce has been doing great as my "partner in crime" in the puppetry department and we really had lots of fun especially the finale where we just danced...we co-ordinated very well and both of us were laughing away behind the puppet stage as we danced and head banged away at the really catchy tune! Kudos to everyone for all teh hard work that is gonna pay off! 1001 souls people!!!!!

On Tuesday I went to a Primary school to do recording, the initial plan was to be there for only 2 hours but little did little blue realize that it grew into a 7 hour marathon session.......
Working with kids is different with working with adults. One group listens to you....Can you guess which group I'm referring to? Some classes were great, within 3 takes and we were done recording whereas for some we had to retrain them on their speaking again and again and again and....Well you get the picture.

But that's not the end as I have the King David rehearsal to attend. It was tiring and it ended quite late at 10.30 am. Joyce is getting better with her puppetry and we are geling well together as a team. We had the most fun during the grand finale where the puppets would dance but man did our arms tire! It was the longest time we would be up but it was worth it!
Well 2 more days to D-day!

Well today is a good break from me...I have been going to various schools to teach speech and drama and man was it tiring......Today is ACS's arts festival and I hope everything turns out fine especially the props I made for my boss. On the first rehearsal and one of the kids broke off the nose of my swordfish! Hiyah!

Its sad that some schools attempt to quantify the arts and wanting to attach a grade to it but isn't it supposed to be fun? Children like to roleplay but if they're force to "perform" would it kill their interest? SOme kids I have come across are born actors whereas some aren't.....however each child has a different gifting in certain areas....what can I say but I feel sorry for the school.

Oh well tommorrow I'll be heading down to another school to carry out a recording session and I hope everything turns out ok ( but usually Murphy's Law kicks in ) and I might end up having one class doing it again and again for 1 hour.........sianzzzzzz! Times like these that makes you wanna strangle that child.......

And this Sat/Sun is the King David's musical at Grace Methodist church....I have a young gal by the name of Joyce and though she is young, she is great to work with.... We're gonna have rehearsals from tommorrow onwards till D-day. Its gonna be another busy week for "Little Blue " here...till then keep on Moooooving....
